Types of adhesive removers

There are 3 main types of adhesive removers:

1. Citrus-based removers

This product is eco-friendly as it mainly consists of citrus-fruit extracts. Only 20% of the adhesive remover is made up of chemicals such as sulfur and chloride. It has a mild and pleasant scent, making it the perfect choice for people who are sensitive to odours.

 

2. Soy-based removers

This type of adhesive remover is safe to use on a variety of surfaces. As it does not contain the chemical xylene, this product has to be left on the adhesive for a longer period of time. It can be easily rinsed away with water.

 

3. Solvent-based removers

This product is the most effective of the three as it contains strong chemicals. However, it is easily flammable and must be used in an area with good ventilation. This type of adhesive remover should only be used as a last resort.

 

How to remove sticker residue

List of items you will need:

• 1 spray bottle (or can) of adhesive remover
• 1 piece of cloth

 

Before you begin, check that the type of adhesive remover is suitable for the surface you are treating. Follow instructions on the product label carefully.

1. Spray some adhesive remover on the sticker residue.
2. Leave it to rest for some time (refer to the product label for the amount of time needed).
3. Use a piece of cloth to wipe away the loosened adhesive.
4. Clean the surface to remove any excess chemicals, as leaving it may damage the surface.
