Types of Water Taps

There are many kinds of water taps, used differently depending on where they are installed. Here are their characteristics and uses:

• Kitchen sink tap

Kitchen sink taps have very tall water spouts attached to deep basins. These spouts can typically be swivelled across the basin.

Many modern kitchen faucets have an in-built retractable hose, allowing you to direct water flow as needed. These often come with nozzles that can vary the water output from a dispersed spray to a concentrated blast, which is convenient when washing dishes and ingredients.

• Basin tap

Basin taps are usually found in bathroom sinks or wash basins around the house. They can come with different functions such as a mixer for temperature control, or in different designs such as lever or twist-type handles.

• Bathroom and shower tap

Bathroom and shower taps look and function similarly to basin taps, but are attached to a shower pipe or above a bathtub instead.

• Service tap

These faucets are simple in design and typically attached to walls for easy use. They can be used to dispense water for washing machines, or for attaching hoses to clean toilets or water plants.
